<ns1:summary>Everyone knows someone affected by cancer. Marilyn Huntsman recovered fully from skin cancer but is now suffering from her second bout with breast cancer. Her husband died from cancer of the liver, stomach, kidney, and colon. Angel Randall has been diagnosed with a terminal brain tumor. But neither Angel nor Marilyn lets cancer stop them from living. Angel just published her first children's book. Marilyn continues to serve in the temple and to serve her family and her community. They join oncologist Steve Wallentine to talk about what spiritual and physical help is available for cancer patients. Doctor Wallentine explains how the gospel brings his patients comfort, having witnessed firsthand how Christ takes upon Him the "pains and the sicknesses of His people."</ns1:summary>

Since then he has had 379 wins and only nine losses, and won 18 national championships. His wife, Cathy, joins him. Together they tell us what they did to coach the players, on and off the field. He has just one rule for his team “Don’t do anything that would embarrass you, your family, or this team.” He encourages his Rugby players to do their best in school, in sports, in their family, in their religion, and in life.</ns1:summary>

<ns1:summary>Mormon Identities is a show about who we are as Latter-day Saints. But while the restored gospel of Jesus Christ defines who we are as members of the Church and works to unite us despite our personal differences, other factors continue to shape who we are as individuals and groups even within the Church. Join us for the episode “What Makes a Mormon?” which was taped as the inaugural episode of the new Mormon Identities. Our host, Eric Huntsman, talks first with Camille Fronk Olson, associate chair of BYU’s Department of Ancient Scripture, who begins our discussion by focusing on the fundamental beliefs and practices that make us Latter-day Saints. Sociologist Marie Cornwall then discusses what kind of external factors---cultural, family, and demographic---make us not only a religion but also a people. Finally, Alonzo Gaskill, associate professor of Church history and doctrine, reflects on the process of conversion and embracing a new identity, citing his own experience coming into the Church from Eastern Orthodoxy.</ns1:summary>

<ns1:summary>As we complete this year's study of the Old Testament, join us for this interesting interview with Camille Fronk Olson, author of Women of the Old Testament. Our host, Eric Huntsman, asks Dr. Olson about the writing of this interesting and richly illustrated volume, probing into the examples of both familiar and not-so-familiar Old Testament women. Whether married or not married, with or without children, wealthy or poor, all of these women had challenges and all of them exhibited great faith. Join us for this discussion to see what lessons we can learn from them for today's world. </ns1:summary>

They discuss the similarities and differences between the narratives of Mattew 1-2 and Luke 1-2 and end by focusing on the vital truths that these accounts share with each other and Book of Mormon prophecies of Jesus’ birth. While most Christians believe that Jesus existed before this world began, they do not teach that we all existed in a premortal life. And while most Christian organizations struggle with related biblical references, latter-day revelations shed light on this doctrine that helps everyone better understand where we all came from before we began our lives on this earth.</ns1:summary>

<ns1:summary>Part 1: The Atonement is a key Latter-Day Saint doctrine. During this two-part episode of Mormon Identity, Brent Top, chairman of the Department of Church History and Doctrine at BYU, joins our host, Robert Millet, to discuss the Atonement in detail, with specific reference to the Book of Mormon. Professor Top opens his focus in the 10th chapter in the book of Nephi. Nephi writes in detail of our "lost and fallen" state. Brent and Bob talk of not only Adam’s fall from grace, but that each of us is fallen and lost and needs the atoning sacrifice of Jesus Christ to return to our Heavenly Father. In this episode of Mormon Identity, Brother’s Millet and Top explore and discuss this defining and critical doctrine.</ns1:summary>

<ns1:summary>During this episode of Mormon Identity, Brent Top, chairman of the Department of Church History and Doctrine at BYU, joins our host, Robert Millet, as they explore what happens to us after death. Initially Brother Millett presents the age-old question posed by Job of the Old Testament, where he asked, "If a man die, shall he live again?" Brent Top follows with reference to Joseph Smith’s writings on this important subject. For example, "It is a subject we ought to study more than any other [said Joseph], we ought to study it day and night, for the world is ignorant to their true conditions and relations." Joseph also said, "If we have any claim on anything from our Heavenly Father it is for knowledge on this important subject." So what does happen to us after we leave this mortal existence? What will be our condition in the spirit world? How will we relate to others and to our Heavenly Father? In this episode of Mormon Identity, Brother’s Millet and Top explore and discuss this interesting and important subject.</ns1:summary>

Camille refers to her early career studies at the University of Utah’s institute of religion. While she was encouraged to teach on subjects of her choice, her contemporaries warned of difficulties in finding adequate “women in the scriptures” material to support a single term of study. But over time Camille’s research grew to include three full terms of study. And now, after a 20-year teaching career, Sister Olsen has helped countless students better appreciate the equal value our Father in Heaven places on both men and women.</ns1:summary>

Faith is identified as a complement to studying, not a substitute. They also point out the benefit of giving the Lord equal time in terms of the material you read.</ns1:summary>

<ns1:subtitle>006: Men and Women in the Church</ns1:subtitle>
<ns1:summary>Robert Millet, professor of religious education at Brigham Young University, joins Camille Fronk Olsen, professor of ancient scripture at Brigham Young University, to talk about men and women in the Church. They discuss the important roles of the priesthood and motherhood, addressing the misunderstood idea that women are submissive to the men because they don’t hold the priesthood. They speak of the relationship between men and women as a partnership; each role is very different, but equal in importance.</ns1:summary>
