SALT LAKE CITY | 3 Jul 2008 | Last week this Web site posted a package of videos and stories titled "Church Seeks to Address Public Confusion Over Texas Polygamy Group." Several news articles and blog posts have reacted to these resources, the majority of which have acknowledged that there is still considerable misunderstanding about the two churches.<div class="feedflare">

SALT LAKE CITY | 2 Jul 2008 | The July edition of the Ensign, a monthly magazine distributed to English-speaking Church members, features an address given by Elder M. Russell Ballard, a member of the Church's Quorum of Twelve Apostles. Elder Ballard encourages Church members to participate in the growing online discussion about the Church: "There are conversations going on about the Church constantly. Those conversations will continue whether or not we choose to participate in them. But we cannot stand on the sidelines while others, including our critics, attempt to define what the Church teaches. While some conversations have audiences in the thousands or even millions, most are much, much smaller. But all conversations have an impact on those who participate in them. Perceptions of the Church are established one conversation at a time."<div class="feedflare">

OTTAWA, Canada | 1 Jul 2008 | Gladys Knight's son Jimmy III died in his sleep nine years ago at age 36. She recently told the Ottawa Citizen newspaper: "He brought me to my church and I just grew immensely from his example. I am happy in my spirit for where I know for sure he is. That (death) is something we all have to go through, it's not our time and place to dictate when, where or what, it's not our business. It belongs to the Lord and that's how I've dealt with it. I know I'll see him again." Knight joined The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in 1997.<div class="feedflare">

BENNINGTON, Vermont | 30 Jun 2008 | Imagine putting on distinctively formal clothes, traveling to a place thousands of miles away you've never seen before and knocking on strangers' doors to tell them about your faith. This is part of what Mormon missionaries do around the world in 349 mission territories. Such efforts have helped increase the size of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, as the church is known formally, from 2 million in 1963 to 13 million today.<div class="feedflare">

MACHESNEY PARK, Illinois | 26 Jun 2008 | Spending a Friday evening filling sandbags isn't typical for a teenager. But last Friday, for one youth group, it was the most fun they had in a long time. These were just a few of the many volunteers who helped a flooded community. More than 150 members from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints answered the call to serve the Machesney Park residents affected by the Rock River flooding.<div class="feedflare">
